Viking is a Canadian comedy film directed by Stéphane Lafleur and released in 2022. 

The first manned mission to Mars is in danger of failing because the crew is at each other’s throats. The solution? Recruit a surrogate “crew” of civilians to simulate and predict the astronauts’ interactions before problems become dangerous.  Unfortunately, the mock tensions begin to become all-too real, as the actual astronauts are drifting towards Mars.  Will the crew be able to work together to provide solutions for the astronauts on Mars?

This unique and charming comedy balances absurdist humour with a poignant reflection on the human condition.  It’s a story about the gap between our dreams and reality.

The film received awards at the VIFFF festival and Cinéfest Sudbury, as well as a Special Mention for Best Canadian Feature Film at TIFF 2022. The film has received 13 nominations for the Canadian Screen Awards taking place in April 2023.
