The culmination of the centenary season of cinema "Splendid Palace" will be the celebration on December 9, when a concert film with a special motto "From the past to the future" will be premiered, marking the cinema's constant role in showing quality cinema for a century.
Celebrating the important anniversary, the film "Sherlock Jr." by Buster Keaton will be shown, with the original musical accompaniment by composer Kārlis Lācis.
"Sherlock Jr., a 1924 silent film classic by Buster Keaton, is a true masterpiece that has surprised and inspired audiences around the world. It is recognized as the director's greatest film ever made," says cinema "Splendid Palace" artistic director Daira Āboliņa. "Not only Keaton's performance as a director, but also as a comedian is excellent in the film. The film is technically resourceful and innovative. Buster Keaton plays virtuoso and with light humor the iconic concept of "screen magic". The film surprises and are delighted by his own artistic tricks."
